Why K-Mag?
The shortage of just one essential nutrient can shortchange BAHIAGRASS yield and quality. Growers can optimize BAHIAGRASS productivity by providing a balanced soil fertility program that ensures all 17 essential nutrients are available to plants.

K-Mag fertilizer provides three essential nutrients in the highly available sulfate form. Available in PREMIUM, GRANULAR and STANDARD grades, K-Mag provides 21-22% potassium (K2O), 10.5-11% magnesium (Mg) and 21-22% sulfur (S).

Also known as langbeinite, potassium magnesium sulfate, or double sulfate of potash, K-Mag is sourced from ore beds deep beneath the earth's surface, where an isolated lake of ocean water once existed. Langbeinite, an evaporite mineral, is one of the most soluble salts in the ocean.

Increase BAHIAGRASS yields
Grown for hay, sod and pasture, BAHIAGRASS is widely recognized for its superior adaptation. However, it can remove large quantities of nutrients from the soil. One ton of BAHIAGRASS removes 45 lbs/A of potash, 5 lb/A of Mg and 4 lb/A of S. Additionally, maintaining a proper soil pH (5.5-6.5) is essential for adequate nutrient availability and uptake. If the soil is too alkaline, micronutrient deficiencies may occur. If the soil is too acidic, S deficiency may occur and manganese (Mn) can become toxic.

K-Mag can help replenish three essential nutrients, without affecting soil pH.

Potassium (K)
K helps BAHIAGRASS out-compete invading weeds by promoting an extended, deep root system. Healthy roots also help BAHIAGRASS better tolerate drought by searching lower in the soil profile for water. K helps fend off disease.

Magnesium (Mg)
Mg constitutes the heart of the chlorophyll molecule and regulating photosynthesis rates. As rates of photosynthesis decline, so do quality and yield. Mg also plays a role in soil nutrient balancing acts by facilitating phosphorus (P) uptake. K-Mag supplies Mg in the readily available water soluble sulfate form, as well as in the right balance with K.

Sulfur (S)
Studies show that S additions can increase BAHIAGRASS yields by 25% (see Table below). S is a key element in proteins, and it is vital to vitamin synthesis in plants. S deficiencies are a concern in the Southeast because of highly leached soils and minor industrial activity in the region.
