For
high-quality bulk blended fertilizers, K-MAG
Premium supplies three vital plant
nutrients - potassium, magnesium and sulfur (21.5% K2O,
10.5% Mg, 21% S). This premium product is mined and granulated
near Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Uniformity
Typically, the larger the Uniformity Index
(UI) value, the greater the uniformity of particle size and
the better the blending characteristics. K-MAG Premium typically
ranges between UI 42 and 47, an excellent range for high-quality
blends.
Less Abrasive
Due to the granulated nature of K-MAG
Premium, it is much less abrasive than crystalline granular
forms, causing less wear and tear on blending and application
equipment.
High-Quality Blends
K-MAG Premium is ideally sized for blending
with SGN typically between 265 and 280. Very uniform in size,
it also has a lower bulk density than crystalline K-MAG Granular.
Because it is a granulated material, K-MAG Premium has excellent
properties for impregnation with herbicides or pesticides.
Minimal Chloride K-MAG Premium
Premium's maximum chloride content is
typically below three percent, minimizing the potential for
fertilizer "burn." It is widely used on sensitive vegetable
and fruit crops requiring high fertilizer rates. It is also
used on other crops - tobacco, for example - which have high
potassium and magnesium demand, yet are sensitive to chlorides.
Replacement of K, Mg and S
Potassium, magnesium and sulfur are three
basic nutrients essential for plant growth and vital to profitable
crop production. They are continually removed from the soil
by high-yield crop production and, in the case of sulfur
and magnesium, not replaced by many of today's high-analysis
fertilizers.
Readily Soluble
K-MAG Premium is totally water soluble,
providing potassium, magnesium and sulfur in a form readily
absorbed by plants. The rapid solubility of the product is
a special benefit in the production for short-season crops,
especially in areas of cold soils and limited rainfall or
irrigation.
Non-Acidifying
K-MAG Premium is neutral in pH and does
not contribute to additional soil acidity.
Agronomic Characteristics
Potassium is required for the uptake
of nitrogen and synthesis of protein and starch. It also
helps activate more than sixty enzymes, making them available
to stimulate other chemical processes within the plant. Adequate
potassium is essential for fruit formation, optimum yields
and high quality. Magnesium activates a large number of enzymes
in the plant and is also required for the synthesis of chlorophyll
- the vital green pigment necessary for sugar manufacturing
in plants. Sulfur activates a number of enzymes, is vital
to the formation of amino acids, is crucial in the production
of protein and is especially important to plants with high
oil content.
